MIHRA AT BIG IDEAS PLATFORM (BIP) 2025

On May 24, 2025, our co-founder, Shedrack Nwaokocha, represented Mind Innovation and Health Reform Africa – MIHRA, at The Big Ideas Platform annual conference organized by The School of Politics, Policy and Governance.

With the theme “Brain Health and Mental Wellbeing,” the conference explored the intricate connection between brain health and mental health, the cognitive effects of multitasking, and how innovation can drive better health outcomes. It challenged us to rethink development by focusing on the foundational role of mental wellness in societal progress.

The event was a powerful gathering of thought leaders, innovators, and changemakers reimagining the future of health through policy, science, and technology. Participating in this event reinforces our commitment at MIHRA to see a healthier and more inclusive Africa.

Highlights from Our Speakers:

Emma Sky, Director of Yale International Leadership Centre, delivered a stirring keynote on how emotionally intelligent leadership can promote societal well-being and the importance of building a “good society.”
Dr. Andrew Nevin, Director of Brainomics™ Venture at UT Dallas, emphasised the economic impact of brain health, advocating for interventions that enhance cognitive function to drive productivity and unlock Africa’s potential.
Anikeade Funke-Treasure Akintoye, Executive Director of Illuminate Nigeria Development Network, highlighted the often-overlooked impact of menstrual health on mental well-being and national productivity, calling for increased awareness and advocacy.
